Under the imposing dome of the Palace of Parliament, in a landscape full of history and influence, a truly memorable event took place. On April 24, 2024, the National Grand Lodge of Romania hosted a remarkable conference, animated by the vital theme of sustainability.
In a context in which the environment and climate change are becoming key words in our common dictionary, the conference on the theme “Better Life – Sustainable Environment – European Green Deal – Romania’s Role in Climate Change Mitigation” brought together opinion leaders from within the Masonic order, along with illustrious figures from government and civil society.
Thus, we were joined by the Most Reverend Brother Cătălin Tohăneanu, Grand Master of the MLNR, Radu Bălănescu, Grand Master of the Immediate Past, along with Ionuț Sorin Banciu – Secretary of State, Mihaela Frăsineanu – State Counselor within the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Romania, Andrei Corlan – General Commission of the National Environmental Guard, Rareș Hopincă – Former Prefect of the Capital, Prof. Univ. Dr. Mircea Duțu – Director of the Institute of Legal Research of the Romanian Academy.
It was a unique opportunity to highlight Romania’s role in this global movement to mitigate the impact on our planet. The discussions spanned areas such as public policy, technological innovation and civic engagement, outlining a map of the future in which nature and humanity can coexist in harmony.
This conference was not just an event – it was a manifesto for a better future. Because, in a world of climate change and environmental challenges, such dialogue and collective action are not only welcome, but essential for our survival and that of the planet.
