On the evening of March 12, 2026, the National Museum of Art of Romania hosted an event celebrating excellence, organized by the Grand National Lodge of Romania.
The event held special significance: the National Grand Lodge of Romania had declared 2026 the “Year of Nadia Comăneci,” marking the 50th anniversary of the first perfect 10 in the history of world gymnastics—a feat that forever changed the course of the sport and made Romania’s name known around the world.
The special guest of the evening was Nadia Comăneci, a symbol of perfection and one of Romania’s most admired figures.
In recognition of his extraordinary contribution to Romania’s prestige around the world, the Grand Master of the National Grand Lodge of Romania, Cătălin Tohăneanu, awarded him the Masonic Order in the rank of Commander with Laurels.
The event also featured an anniversary video dedicated to Nadia Comăneci, produced by Dan Andronic, which brought back into the public eye the defining moments of a career that has inspired entire generations.
The evening was rounded out by some exceptional musical performances.
David Dumitrescu, a young boy of just 12 years old, gave a piano recital that impressed the audience with its sensitivity and artistic maturity.
And violinist Răzvan Stoica, playing a 1729 Stradivarius violin “ex Ernst,” alongside his sister Andreea Stoica on the piano, brought to the stage one of the most moving works in the Romanian musical heritage: Ciprian Porumbescu’s Ballad.
The event was hosted by Dan Andronic and Alina Alexoi, and the evening concluded in a warm atmosphere with autographs and photos with Nadia Comăneci.
On this occasion, guests received over 200 copies of *Evenimentul Istoric*—which tells Nadia’s untold story and is signed by her—and the Publishing House of the National Grand Lodge of Romania, in partnership with Romfilatelia and the Romanian Post, produced a limited-edition anniversary postcard (500 copies), which was presented to the participants.
An event that brought together a celebration of achievement, culture, and gratitude for a name that continues to inspire generations: Nadia Comăneci.
