3rd Edition of the MLNR Awards Gala

 

I. The GRIGORE MOISIL Award for Exact Sciences went to Ștefan Papadima, from the Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy, for the group of works on topology and algebraic geometry published in the country and abroad in 2012.

II. The HENRI COANDĂ Prize for Applied Sciences was awarded to Maria Petrescu, Polytechnic University of Bucharest, for her work Treatise on Science and Engineering of Metallic Materials, 5 volumes, 2006-2012. For the first time since the debut of the Grand Lodge Awards Gala, the prize was awarded to a woman.

III. The CAROL DAVILA Prize for Medicine was awarded to Mr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jianu Dragoș-Cătălin, “Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timișoara. He is the author of a monograph in the field of neuro-ophthalmology, entitled: “Color Doppler Ultrasound. Ophthalmo-neurological interferences”. He is known for his contribution to the definition of anterior ischemic optic neuropathies, managing to characterize the arteritic and non-arteritic forms. He is an author and collaborator of the “American Journal of Neuroprotection and Neuroregeneration”.

IV. The NICOLAE TITULESCU Prize for Diplomacy and Political Science was awarded to Mihnea Motoc, Ambassador of Romania to the European Union.

V. The EUGENIU CARADA Prize for Economics was awarded to Lucian Croitoru, for the work Monetary Policy; Unconventional Hypostases – The Speculative Attack; Eurozone Crisis, Unemployment; Inflation, Curtea Veche Publishing House, Bucharest, 2012.

VI. The SPIRU HARET Prize for Education, Environment, IT was obtained by Horia Pop, Babeş-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca, for the group of works on artificial intelligence.

VII. The CONSTANTIN BRÂNCUȘI Prize for Art and Culture went to George Virgil Stoenescu for the poetry volume Wheel of Fortune, Univers Enciclopedic Gold Publishing House, 2012.
